Program Description 
Unlock your awareness of your personality style, leadership style and personal philosophy in this engaging self-exploration.  Identify how your personality traits play a role in your interactions with others. And learn how to adapt your style to work with others to accomplish common work goals.  This foundational course builds personal skills at all levels of leadership.  Prerequisite:  None 
Who Should Attend?  Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nurse Aides, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, and Other Health Professionals seeking to learn more about personality traits to work with others. 
Desired Learning Outcome:   You will gain the basic leadership skills to start to process of developing oneself as a nursing leader.

By the end of this class you will:

  • Develop your leadership philosophy.

Susan E. Thornton, MN, RN 

Susan founded Acute Care Education to create an organization with integrity and honesty to deliver high quality evidence-based CNE. As a clinical educator, Susan’s twenty-six years of nursing knowledge covers a broad spectrum of clinical experiences including: acute care and critical care nursing in both RN and ACNP roles; clinical educator for LPN and RN’s; management positions within a variety of healthcare organizations, academia, and in business. Susan served in the United States Army Nurse Corps from 1991-1997.  Her assignments included:  Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Madigan Army Medical Center.  Currently, she teaches advanced skills such as 12-lead ECG Interpretation and Leadership. Over the years, she has spoken on a variety of topics at the local and national levels.   Susan holds a Master’s in Nursing as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from Washington State University–Vancouver and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Seattle Pacific University. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, Oregon Council of Healthcare Educators, and Northwest Staff Development Organization. 


Registration includes:  Attendance at program, downloadable program handouts, all day coffee, tea, water, continental breakfast and snacks.  All supplies are included.  Wi-fi is available in the conference center.
