Program Description

Suicide assessment, prevention, and intervention is a topic relevant to all nursing care providers. Research shows that most people who commit suicide have a diagnosable mental and/or substance use disorder. This program will explore the critical elements of assessing for suicide risk in the general population and special populations including military/veterans, adolescents, elderly, and LGBT. It will review key strategies in providing effective suicide prevention and provide hands on application of evidence-based intervention tools.

The Washington State Department of Health approved this course to meet the 2017 WA requirement for 6.0 contact hours in suicide assessment, prevention, and management for all healthcare disciplines. (Approval #TRNG.TG.60717225-SUIC)
