Program Description

Do you understand the basic principles and techniques for excellent splinting? Do you need practice in splinting? This course will provide you with the terminology, indications, and practice to apply several different types of splints. NOTE: Please, wear old clothing or bring a lab jacket or apron. You will be applying splints and will have splints applied to you. This is a messy endeavor.

Registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, advanced practice nurses, students, orthopedic technicians, emergency department technicians and other health sciences professionals wishing to acquire skills in effective splinting.

Program Outline

  • Terminology, Wrapping Methods, Anatomical Positions
  • Practical Exercises: Ulnar Gutter, Thumb Spica and Short Leg Splints
  • Slings & Crutches
