This course presents introductory Reiki, a non-pharmacological, non-invasive energy field therapy, which is offered to patients and others to decrease anxiety and promote relaxation, ease distress and facilitate well-being. Students will participate in experiential opportunities and critically appraise the evidence on effectiveness. This activity provides nurses with the opportunity to acquire the theory and hands-on skill needed to discuss Reiki and practice Reiki Level 1 techniques to reduce anxiety, relieve pain, and promote healing in self and others. Nurses taking this course will receive a Level 1 Notebook, a certificate suitable for framing from the Reiki Healing Connection, and a pin recognizing completion. Nurses will leave this course with a basic foundation for practicing Reiki on themselves and others.
