Program Description

Discover how different types of dementia affect the elderly within the long-term care population.  You will learn how to communicate effectively with dementia clients and their families, gain tools to recognize the signs/symptoms of dementia and delirium, how to respond effectively to challenging behaviors, and issues surrounding activities of daily living. You will be required to pass a written examination.

This program meets the 2018 Washington State DSHS-approved mandatory “Dementia Specialty Training” requirement for your caregiving Health Services/ Nursing staff members.

All Health Services/ Nursing caregiving staff (RN, LPN, Med Aides, Caregivers, CNA, HCA, NAR and others) in long term care settings.

  • Tips for Dealing with Specific Challenging Behaviors
