course is ideal for anyone who needs an update on
some of the most critical, yet difficult to conceptualize,
content in nursing. We have taken the mystery out
of these topics and present them in a way that will
help the learner once-and-for-all understand some
of the body's most important regulatory systems.
Objectives
Upon
completion of Homeostasis: Fluids, Electrolytes, Acid/Base,
and Shock the learner will:
-
Analyze the pathophysiology and collaborative interventions
related to fluid regulation, fluid overload, and
fluid deficits
-
Discuss assessment findings and collaborative interventions
indicated for the major electrolyte disorders
-
Analyze and interpret arterial blood gas results
-
Compare and contrast the clinical signs and symptoms
of acid-base disorders and predict measures to restore
acid-base homeostasis
-
Predict the major physiological stimuli responsible
for each classification of shock and explain the
pathophysiology related to each
- Explain
the promotion and maintenance of adaptation for
the client in shock
Course
Outline
- Fluid
movement - osmosis, hydrostasis, and oncotic forces
- The
major electrolytes
- Acid
/ Base analysis, interpretation and intervention
- Definition
and categories of cellular and tissue hypoperfussion
